Tetrazine Acid contains tetrazine and carboxylic acid groups, and trans cyclooctene (TCO), as a amphiphilic monomer, reacts with S-tetrazine under physiological conditions without the need for a catalyst and at a fast reaction rate. It is widely used in research in biology and materials science. Terminal carboxylic acids can react with primary amine groups in the presence of activators such as EDC or DCC to form stable amide bonds.
