The study of crime and its influence is a complex enterprise. In terms of recent concerns about exposing details of crimes on media , My opinions are mixed. I do support its positive side ;however ,I find the detrimental influence could also be persuasive.

Based on the deterrent effect , authorities tend to take advantage of the media to report the judging process. They hope, people who follow the report on punishing criminals may have a less propensity to violate the law , and this result is what the original aim of the government targets. Besides , the principle of social justice confers individuals the right to know the final ending of someone who breaks the law .This may also facilitate to build the social trust system as well as boost the public acceptance of social equality .

However ,opponents may acclaim that the exposure about how criminals behave wrongdoings on media may inveigle teenagers into the off track way . Specifically, they argue: people learn to commit crimes; therefore, many children who watch illegal behaviors are more likely to end up prospective criminals. My point is not to criticize the media , but rather usher a question : would not this also be the perfect course for potential criminals to learn from? It is not unknown for a policeman to commit a crime. This example suggests that how well behaved citizen ,with the help of media , can perpetrate secretly .

To conclude ,as there are both merits and demerits of this situation ,then ,it is the regulation as to who could watch versus who could not that could help to maximize the effect of deterring crimes.
