How to read it?

My preferred approach follows the philosopher and historian R.G. Collingwood, who suggested we should aim to understand the questions that people asked. The questions they had in mind may not be exxplicit, but if you can puzzle them oyt, the rest of their work tends to make more sense.
Collingwood's method forces us to be active readers, looking for sense in the text, rather than reading passively and hoping to absorb something.

可以用于口語的詞語和表達(dá)

1. pose himself/herself a question: 某人給自己提出了一個(gè)問題，這個(gè)可能也有點(diǎn)書面語。

2. make sense: 平時(shí)語境中也可以用（That makes more sense.) 出自：It therefore makes more sense for most of us to understand Darwin's evolutionary ideas in genetic terms rather than in terms of Darwin's own theories of inheritance.?但是這句話就太書面語了。

3. easy to read --> readable

4. has one huge advantage over something: 作比較的時(shí)候可以用
