改變世界，從改變自己開始

英國倫敦著名的威斯敏斯特大教堂，有一塊舉世聞名的墓碑。墓碑為粗糙的花崗巖質(zhì)地，造型也很普通，與周邊英國國王、牛頓、達爾文、狄更斯等名人相比，墓碑居然沒有姓名、生卒年月，甚至沒有關(guān)于墓主人生平的介紹。

但就是這樣一塊無名的墓碑，卻給全世界帶來了心靈的震撼！

在這塊墓碑上，刻著這樣的一段墓志銘：

When I?was young and free and my imagination had no limits, I dreamed of?changing the world.

在我年輕的時候，

我曾夢想改變這個世界。

As I?grew?older and wiser, I discovered the world would not change，so I?shortened my sights somewhat and decided to change only my?country.

可當我成熟以后，

我發(fā)現(xiàn)我不能夠改變這個世界，

于是，我將目光縮短一些，

那就只改變我的國家吧！

But it，too，?seemed immovable.

As I grew?into my twilight years, in one last desperate attempt, I settled?for changing only my family, those closest to me, but alas, they?would have none of it.

可當我到了暮年的時候，

我發(fā)現(xiàn)我根本沒有能力改變我的國家，

于是，我最后的愿望僅僅是改變我的家庭，

可是這也是不可能的。

And now，as I lie on my deathbed, I suddenly realize: If I had only changed?my self first, then by example I would have changed my family.

當我躺在床上行將就木的時候，

我突然意識到：

如果當初我僅僅是從改變自己開始，

也許我就能改變我的家庭。

在家人的幫助和鼓勵下，

也許我就能為我的國家做一些事情。

From?their inspiration and encouragement, I would then have been able to?better my country and, who knows, I may have even changed the?world.

然后，誰知道呢？

說不定我能改變這個世界！
