When will India have its own mobile phone manufacturing companies that will use each and every part made in India to manufacture mobile phones?

Why shd we do so? What is the financial advantage ? Whose ego does that satisfy ?
It is business prudence to source the cheapest inputs WITHOUT compromising on quality and functionality from any part of the world. If Samsung can give mobile screens the cheapest why shd india invest scarce capital to produce the screen at a higher cost ?
International trade does not sustain such egoistic introverted business models.

In 1999 an Indian airlines plane flying from Kathmandu was hijacked. It unnerved the world’s bankers. Inside the plane was one of the most powerful persons that nobody in public knew. A Swiss VIP was aboard IC-814. That guy makes the paper for all world’s currencies. At that point almost every country in the world used his company’s De La Rue papers. Other than the life of all the ordinary passengers, the government had to worry about the life of one passenger whose brain contained some of the most powerful secrets. If that guy was compromised, entire currency supply chain of the world could have been screwed. Eventually Indian government agreed to release all the terrorists in exchange for all the hostages (Who was that special passenger).
Do you know that 95% of the world’s ballpoint tips are produced from the equipment of one swiss company named Mikron? It was such a hard piece of technology that the Chinese spent years researching it and when they succeeded recently, their President made an announcement.
China has developed its own ballpoint pen tips, ending a long-term reliance on imported ones pic.

Do you know that 85% of the world’s currencies — whether it is Euro, US dollar or Indian Rupee is printed on ink from one supplier from Switzerland: SICPA
I can go for dozens of such examples to make you marvel how complex the technologies are for the everyday things you use and how super complex it is to replicate them even though you see millions of them in your life. You don’t care much about the ballpoint tips or the special ink in currency notes, do you?
A long time ago I consulted with the world’s best piano making company. Going to their factory was a fascinating experience. In over 120 years, nobody found a better way to make a piano than them.
Pianos have been around for centuries and why cannot someone else make a Piano? Because it is hard.
Manufacturing is hard. Super hard. Next time you go into a factory just marvel the creation therein. I am always super fascinated to take factory tours and have toured some of the best factories in the world, including the plant that makes S-Class Mercedes Benz in Stuttgart and the two plants in the world that makes Dairy Milk chocolate. It is super hard to replicate all the processes and know-how therein.
Only people without a background in manufacturing would write off the complexity of making things. Compared to chocolates, papers, inks, ballpoint pens, pianos and cars, mobile phones are far more newer and far more complicated. Are you really surprised that most countries in the world don’t have the ecosystem to make that?
The semiconductors foundries that make the core of Smartphones are in only a couple of countries in the whole world. It requires billions of dollars to setup one of them. Most of the displays (even those for iPhones) come from Samsung’s plants. There are only a handful of companies that can make the lenses for cameras. And so on.
A lot of those technologies are patented, there is a tight control on the supply chain , there are a lot of trade secrets involved and finally lot of money.
